As Technical Sales Support Specialist, you will provide hands-on pre and post sales technical engineering support to our E-mobility Electrical Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and EV-Chargers. You'll be primarily accountable for technical support for our DC Fast Chargers for Heavy Vehicles & Fleet Business Segment by providing your product knowledge to questions on Installations, Hardware/Software, responding to RFI's and RFP's, and participating in customer meetings and design reviews.

This position reports to

Manager, Technical Sales Support

Your responsibilities

  • Initiate and nurture positive partner relationships with prospective clients as a representative of E-mobility, continuously promoting a positive customer experience
  • Support RFI and RFP requests from new and existing customers, by obtaining information, conducting analysis of requirements, and providing input to response quote tendered
  • Work closely with ABB departments to help resolve customer sales issues
  • Review and interpret engineering one-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, and circuit breaker and controls illustrations
  • Provide pre-sales electrical site surveys and application engineering support to prospective clients, including presenting pre-sales tender submissions to clients
  • Work collaboratively to provide technical support to sales colleagues, product management and marketing teams in support of our customer base
  • Manage pre- and post- sales product delivery, placement, installation, commissioning and transitioning to Services provider partner, as required

 

Your background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, preferably in Electrical Engineering, with 2 or more years of technical engineering support or applications engineering experience, preferably within the electrical, power conversion or power electronics industries. In lieu of a degree, equivalent direct experience of 4 years or more years working closely with customers, providing hands-on technical product service support, and responding to a wide variety of customer inquiries, will be considered
  • Knowledge of digital hardware, power electronics control and circuit theory is required, deep knowledge is a plus
  • Must have a basic understanding of various communication protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN bus and Modbus
  • The ability to Test R&D released products before deployment to the field in a structured way, including consistent documentation of test results & findings, and reporting proactively to the development team for ensuring continuous improvements is required
  • Must be able to assess customer specific requirements on feasibility and to translate these requirements into user stories on behalf of the product owners
  • Direct experience in the Electric Transportation, Solar/Renewables or EV-Charging Technology industries providing engineering tech support is a major plus
  • Enthusiastic self-starter and team player with strong collaborative and influencing skills; having a strong passion for sustainable technologies in highly preferred
  • Must have ability to handle and manage several concurrent customer orders and quotations
  • Fluency in the English language required with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work and excel in a high demand, customer-centric, outcomes-based environment required
  • Must have a valid driver's license and passport to be able to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%, based upon business need
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
